At Rawlings Elementary 59% of 3rd graders are reading at Level 1, the lowest assessed level, and 29% of 3rd graders at Metcalfe are reading at Level 1.

What Do We Do?

To address the severe literacy challenges our students face, Kids Count provides our students with:

  • One-on-one reading tutoring using University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) Curriculum

  • Homework assistance

  • Social-emotional learning 

  • Literacy activities

  • Weekly onsite enrichment

  • Field trips around Gainesville
